Answers to common questions about our sourcing, clinical intelligence layers, and privacy protocols.
What is InsightIndex?
InsightIndex is a federated medical search engine and clinical intelligence platform. We provide unified access to official medical literature, drug safety data, and public health records from authoritative global and regional sources.
How does the Clinician Assistant work?
The Clinician Assistant uses a specialized "Clinical Intelligence" system prompt to synthesize research, draft professional documentation, and analyze clinical contexts. It prioritize peer-reviewed literature and official guidelines (NICE, WHO, CDC) over general web content.
Is the AI synthesis reliable for clinical use?
Our AI layer is designed to synthesize published data, not create it. Every claim, data point, or recommendation in an AI synthesis includes a direct link to the official source document. We advise clinicians to treat AI output as a high-speed reference synthesis and always verify against the provided primary sources.
Which databases are primary sources?
We query 8+ major health databases in real-time: NCBI PubMed, openFDA, WHO, CDC, Cochrane, Africa CDC, AJOL, and African Index Medicus. This ensures a comprehensive global view, including critical research from the Global South.
Does it cost anything for medical students?
No. InsightIndex is committed to maintaining a free-to-use platform for students and registered medical professionals. There are no paywalls for academic or clinical reference features.
How do you protect patient privacy?
We do not store, log, or share user queries. There are no user accounts, and no persistent database of search history is maintained. Results are held in temporary local storage on your device and are cleared once the session is terminated.
Is Student Mode different from Clinician Mode?
Yes. Student Mode provides additional educational context, including pathophysiology explanations and clinical reasoning frameworks designed for licensing exam preparation. Clinician Mode focuses on high-speed synthesis, administrative drafting, and professional guideline lookups.
